Students choosing careers
without real guidance

Many students enter university or the workforce without a clear understanding of their own strengths, interests, or the full range of available career paths. Existing tools were either too generic or required expensive counseling sessions.

The challenge: design a mobile-first experience that gives students a personalized, data-driven starting point for one of the most important decisions of their lives.

Personalized assessments
that spark self-discovery

ECO combines interest mapping, skill assessments, and curated career data to generate personalized path recommendations. The app breaks down careers into understandable categories, shows required skills, and connects them to real educational programs.

The design language is calm, growth-oriented, and encouraging, using green tones and organic shapes to reinforce the idea of personal growth.

From Idea to MVP

01

Research & Discovery

Interviewed high school and university students about career decision anxiety. Mapped existing tools' shortcomings. Identified that students needed reflection, not just information.

02

Information Architecture

Designed the assessment framework, categorizing interests, skills, and values into a structured model. Worked with education specialists to map results to real career and academic paths.

03

UI Design & Prototyping

Built end-to-end interactive prototypes in Figma. Led usability testing sessions with 15+ students. Iterated on the assessment format based on engagement and comprehension data.

04

Development & Launch

Collaborated closely with the dev team throughout the build. Managed QA, stakeholder demos, and final launch, ensuring every screen met the design specifications.

Impact & Key Takeaways

๐Ÿง

Empathy-First Design

Career anxiety is real. Framing the app as a journey of self-discovery, not a test, dramatically improved engagement and reduced drop-off rates during assessment.

๐Ÿ”„

Iterative UX

Running usability tests early and often saved development time by catching confusing interactions before they were built, reinforcing the value of testing at every stage.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Mobile-First Matters

Designing with mobile constraints from day one led to a cleaner, more focused product, proving that good constraints drive better creative decisions.
